I suppose I have a lot of things I could blog about but haven't really felt like it. So here's Buster (as an annoyed little elf) wishing you a Merry Christmas. :-)

more snow!

I wanted Buster to go out and do his business so I could relax and fall back asleep. I knew it had been snowing all night and wanted to see how deep! Buster went out to do the scouting for me. As you can see he got soooo very far before deciding it was too cold. ;-)

I like how he circled back in his own tracks!

I ought to try to sleep some more. We had a late girls night doing some needle crafts and watching a couple movies after Mom made us supper!

Finished Projects

These first two pictures are a hat I did for Julie. She picked out the pattern and the colors. I think it turned out very cute and looks like a pixie hat!

This hat I gave to David on his birthday. I wasn't sure want he really would like or needed and figured he might like something I made. I was right. :-)

This morning I just finished hat for Darol but you'll have to wait for pictures of that. Ali agreed that it's looks like a boy hat though. :-D I have a couple more in my stash at my moms. I think Jennell would like one for her birthday! A pretty pale cashmerino yarn in a seed stitch. I made one for myself but did the bind off too tight so I took it apart!

Halloween is OVER

This was my lone contribution to Halloween. Cute though right?

It's a beautiful day here in Colorado. 60 something and sunny! I wish it wasn't so dark when I get off work. It makes it hard to want to do anything afterward.

I heard from my cousin earlier today and she's having a girl! Congratulations Jennell. <3 I told her "Little girls are the best as we know".

4 days until the wedding and only 2 days until the rehearsal. Eep! I need to get some laundry done.

Snow Days!

You might have heard that Colorado got a lot of snow this week. I've been home the past few days because I've been sick. It was great not to have to go out in that mess. Earlier today a friend text messaged me that she was getting pelted by snow balls falling from the trees. I laughed and knew I had to take a picture of the icicle that was hanging off the awing in the backyard to show her. That thing would've fallen down on me the minute I walked by! I broke it off after I took the picture. :-P

At some point it had stopped snowing for a while and I got a knock on my door. It was a lady asking if I wanted the sidewalk shoveled. Well, I certainly had no desire to go out there so I agreed. This is the sidewalk after they scooped it.

This is all I have the energy to write. Hope you all are having a good evening.

I don't know what else to say...

My Dad died on September 7, 2009. Life isn't fair. My mom told me I have always been concerned with justice and what is fair. Our hearts ache with grief and sometimes we just don't know how to go on other than waking up each morning on autopilot. I don't like when people ask how I'm doing. How do you think I'm doing?! I'm surviving. What else is there right now?

new wheels

guess what internets! i got a new car. not just a newtome car but brand spanking new from the factory new car. i've been feeling anxious about it or maybe life in general. i needed reliable/safer transportation especially since my mechanic aka my pop has been in the hospital for what seems like forever and half. my mom came to denver friday evening so we could look at cars. by 11pm we were very tired and hungry but the deals were made, papers were signed and i was driving home in my new car.

A birthday letter to my father

Dear Dad,

I thought instead of a goofy card this year I'd write a letter to you about some of the things I am thankful for, admire, and love about you.

I am thankful that you love me! :-)
That you love (or at least like) my friends and treat them as family.
I am thankful that you take care of my car.
I love that you're such a weirdo!
That you don't know any strangers just friends you haven't made- even though this is embarrassing sometimes.
You will stay up late chatting with me.
You like a lot of the same music as I do.
I am thankful and love that you take care of the people you love.
I love that you love bow ties!
You are always excited to see me and Buster. :-)
You don't stay mad at me very long.
You are passionate about things that are important to you.
You don't complain about many things- even when you have good reason.
You let me choose the radio station in the car.
The word "no" isn't usually in your vocabulary.
You don't mind being the passenger.
Even if I'm bleeding you'll clean me up!

These are just a few things and from just one person who loves you. I hope you know you are loved and appreciated.

Love, Sarah Joy

Busy Busy Busy

I've been busy and unmotivated to make any blog post! I have things to post about. Mainly related to my Aunt JoAnn getting married. My Mom and I hosted an Afternoon Tea for her and friends and family and then the wedding was the following week. Also, today is my Dad's birthday.

Happy Birthday Old Man! I love you.

second knitting project.

, originally uploaded by sjephoto.

i'm on my 4th try of getting the stitches to this hat right! the instructor said "well you're getting your yarns worth by having to reknit it!" knitting good for me i think. it's not as easy to fix a mistake as it is when you're crocheting. reading the directions carefully and watching your work is important. this is an intermediate skill level hat so i guess i shouldn't be too hard on myself since i'm only a beginner!

tonight ali and i are going to see a band called state radio. she knows the lead singer from her CP camp she goes to in the summer. she hasn't seen chad for about 3 years though so she's super nervous. well i better get ready!!!

one of the first projects i finished in '09

wasbi scarf 2, originally uploaded by sjephoto.

i joined a facebook scarf swap way back in November and didn't really think about it until after christmas. i still needed to find out my buddy's favorite color and actually make it and it was nearing the date we had to have our scarves mailed by. i started the scarf while at my parents and accidentally left it there instead of bringing back to denver with me! i was a crocheting machine the next time i was at home trying to get it done. i got it mailed out to my buddy on time. can't wait to hear if she likes it.

Dog days of WINTER

Buster goes visiting, originally uploaded by sjephoto.

It was hard to wake up this morning. I wanted to catch a few more zzz's but since it snowed I needed to get up an going. Dad helped me pack up my car and started it. I had a cup of hot coco and some toast while waiting for it to warm up. Dad decided last minute to have me drop him off at grandma's so he road along with me to Wiggins. The roads were SLICK in town! I continued on my way slowly since the wind was making it like blizzard conditions. I had to drive slow and was late getting back to Denver. To add insult to injury I let the dogs outside at home while I went to the bathroom myself. I go to call them in and discover the back gate was left open! This has never happened before so I didn't think so check before leaving them in the back yard. I didn't have to go very far to find Buster and Pele but I was panicking! They both were feeling feisty galloping through the snow. I got them in the yard and shut the gate. Then off to work where I'm at now. I think I need a nap!

monday monday

Monday's always come too soon. They start the count down to the weekend when we can finally relax.

This Saturday I went shopping with my mom. We started out late which always makes my Mom so impatient. I found a cute project bag to carry around my crocheting in and used my 40% off coupon! I had stopped by another store on my way home and was very disappointed they didn't have any. Sarah Jo wanted to hang out that day as well so mom and I stopped at the store to pick something up to make stir fry. It was delicious by the way. Next time some rice or noodles to go with it. I finished up my facebook scarf swap scarf and put fringe on a scarf i had made for mom. I also made her a hat to match since we found some of the same color of yarn while we were in now.

Today we celebrated my birthday. I didn't realize that's what we were doing until mom said so! She made a nice dinner and made a pie for me. I worked on a project and watched something things off of iTunes most of the afternoon. Seems like I hardly slept all weekend and now it's getting late. Still need to fold clothes and pack up. I need to remember to take pictures of my projects!
