Half Birthday
Happy Half Birthday Oliver Jude! We didn't realize how full our hearts could be. Each day is a joy with my little morning lark. You wake me up with your beautiful smile and laugh at sunrise. You've grown a lot during your six months earth side. You're 18 pounds 11 ounces and 28 inches long. You're on your way out of 6-9 month clothes and almost ready for 12 month because you're so long! Things you enjoy include nursing, pulling Papa's beard, your play gym, jumping, and visiting with the special people in your life. You especially love being sung to. Your favorite songs are The Rainbow Connection, You are My Sunshine and Little Red Caboose. You've recently discovered Buster dog. You like how he hangs around your highchair while you eat! Pretty soon you'll be throwing him treats from up high. You like trying new foods. Your current favorite is peanut butter and bananas. You've been practicing sitting by yourself and standing. You can roll back and forth eager to be a part of what's going on. Soon we will be chasing you around. We're pretty proud of you.

New Year's intentions
The beginning of the new year makes one feel full of possibilities. My Mom used to choose a word to focus on for the year. I'm going to give myself a couple days to think of what I have in mind fits my intentions.

Ultrasound and 26 week appointment
Dear Oliver,
Once again we got to see you. Still wiggling around my tummy. You have cute chubby cheeks and like to kick around a lot. You were practicing breathing and stuck your tongue out at us. We're both healthy and happy.
We finished painting your room this weekend. Your Papa picked the color.
Turned out a little bluer than we thought it'd be. It was exciting to finish a project together for you. One step closer to you joining us land side.
You are loved! We can't wait to meet you.

Temps are on the rise
Dear Baby Oliver,
I am so hot! Gotta keep my eye on the prize! Which is YOU. ;-) You're 24 weeks gestation. It feels like time is going slow but quickly. Hard to believe only 4 more weeks left of this trimester.
Still a lot to do to get ready for you and not too many weekends to get it done. I think almost all the weekends in July are full! It's hard to get stuff done when bending over is a huge deal and it's 100 degrees. I'll have to start squatting soon.
Your Dad and I got the Wedgewood Peter Rabbit set out of storage that we bought for you when you were just a glimmer in our hearts.
I felt you kicking on the outside last Friday afternoon. You were having some sort of crazy dance session. Your Dad got to feel you this morning (Tuesday June, 30th). He was so happy! He's been patiently waiting for the chance.
You're an early riser. You like to dance around my belly starting around 4:30am.
Crazy second trimester stuff: Throwing up! I didn't have any of that nonsense the first trimester although I was nauseous quite a bit. I think it's from allergies and all the snot. It just feels nasty. I've had a lot of texture issues. My body feels weird. I'm having lower back/hip pain and it's hard to get comfortable sometimes. Belly is getting bigger and rounding out. All my organs getting mushed.
We can't wait to meet you.

Anatomy Scan
I had my anatomy scan yesterday. It went fine but I have to go back in at 26 weeks because of my anterior placenta and the baby kept hiding behind it when she was trying to see his heart. I guess not being able get a good ultra sound of the heart at 20 weeks is very common. I'm kind of confused why this scan is so important though. No other signs that something could be wrong. It's not like anything can really be fixed in utero. Lot's of women birth babe's without them.
Tired of going to the doctor/midwife for sure! I asked if I could just skip 24 week appointment and come in at 26 after my ultra sound. Luckily the midwife was happy with that. Gave me the sugar drink to down while getting scanned and then I can get my blood drawn ASAP afterwards. I wait longer in the waiting room than I'm even seen. I'm happy no complications though. That'd be a whole other level of stress. I know the closer to birth the more I'll have to go to the midwife but jeeze! These will be a nice 6 weeks of no appointments!

I forgot to blog when we found out if you were a boy or a girl. On April 23rd they confirmed you're a BOY! Your Papa and I decided on Oliver as your first name.
I've been craving watermelon often and Pizza Hut bread sticks. Nothing much else. During my first trimester I was all about the tea and lemonade. This week I've been so hungry all the time.
We've been buying clothes and have a crib for you. Happy I have all the summer yard sales to find all your baby stuff. Baby accessories are expensive! We need to paint your room and set up your nursery but the weekends have been busy outside planting flowers or mowing all the lawn and prairie grass on our land. You're going to sleep in our room anyhow. Right next to Mama in your bassinet.
Your Great Grandpa Joe died May 19th, exactly a year after your Grandma Marilyn passed away. I'm sorry you won't get to meet another family member.
We are still so excited and can't believe you're in me! Olivia (your cousin) always asks if I have a baby in me. She wants to name you all sorts of funny names.
My clothes are getting too tight. I bought bigger clothes a month ago but all summer stuff. Weather has been strange this May. We even had a blizzard on Mother's Day! I need warmer days so I can put my new clothes to use instead of wearing the same few things that still fit.
We have your 20 week scans next week. We're excited to see you again. We use the doppler at home to listen to your heart beat. Lately you just want swim around and kick me when we try to hear you. Ornery like your Mama I suppose. ;-) If I figure out how to upload sound files I will put up the recording we have of your heart. ♥♥♥

We got to see your cute little face! So happy to see you were still in me. You were a sleepy baby and didn't want to turn the right ways. Your heart beat was 156 bpm. According to old wives tales you'll be a girl! The sonographer kept having me cough to wake you up and make you move. We told our family about you on Easter. Everyone is SO excited to meet you. You are so loved and not even yet born.
Your Papa and I are trying to decide which room will be yours. What kind of crib to get you. How many warm clothes you'll need and what sizes! So many decisions that will hopefully be made before you're born.
We bought you your first little outfits this weekend. They are so cute. I hope you'll think so too.
Your fur brother Buster likes to lay on my tummy protecting you and giving you love. I think he knows you're in there.
Can't wait to meet you.

Today we got to hear your heart beat for the first time on the doppler!!! It was amazing. It sounded like horses running or a fast train chugging along. We also hear the swoosh of your placenta. Happy to know you're growing and doing fine in my womb.

Your Papa and I got to see you on March 11, 2015. They say you're due October 21, 2015. Your heart beat was 165 bpm. I found out you were in me on Feb. 15th. I was late and thought "Well, I guess I'll take a test this afternoon". I had so many emotions when I saw two lines. I sent a picture to your Dad right way. He told me to get a "real test" meaning digital. I did and it said the same thing! We've been waiting for you for a long time. Last year was hard losing your Grandma Marilyn. I think you have perfect timing! I dreamt about you while we lived with Ali. You were a dragonfly when I gave birth to you!

I won something cool!
A few weeks ago I got a notice in the mail box that I need to sign for an international package! At first I wasn't sure what in the world it could be but remembered entering a give away at My Owl Barn. I won two tea towels from Nowhere Creek and they had arrived all the way from Australia. All bundled up! It was so cold on Wednesday. I made sure Ali was in enough layers to brave the cold weather. Ali, Alex, Buster, and I are all housemates. I've known Ali for 6 or 7 years now and we've gotten to be like sisters.

Day 18 December Photo Project
I think this is the last year for our Charlie Brown tree. The branches are kinda wonky and falling apart but we made it work. We got it last year as a hand me down from my Mom. Alex decorated most of it while I worked on craft show stuff. Ali added her special ornies and the Angel at the top! Alex was amazed at the number of Pooh ornaments I have. Each year for as long as I can remember my mom has gotten me a new Pooh ornie from Hallmark. Lets hope she doesn't forget this years. ;-)

Ok so, Monday we went a lot of places and did many things but I failed to snap any pics. Thankfully somedays I take more than one! This is my favorite house on Monaco. We call it the Gingerbread House.
